More than 6400 acres of Reunion Island National Park affected

A wildfire that erupted on October 11 has affected more than 6400 acres of land in La Reunion Island National Park in the French overseas island of La Reunion in the Indian Ocean.

The park covers 40 percent of the island of Reunion, which showcases a unique ecosystem and is designated a World Heritage site by the UNESCO.In a statement last week, UNESCO said that key areas of endemic plants are seriously affected while several rare species are under threat due to the raging fire.
